Life Lesson #237 ~ Love’s Greatest Adventure

Image
“When we get to the end of our lives together, the house we had, the cars we drove, the things we possessed won’t matter. What will matter, is that I had you, and you had me.” ~ Unknown Let’s be honest. My life’s been an adventure. From the moment I was born, l was handed a passport and a suitcase full of wacky and whimsical shenanigans. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t off on an escapade somewhere or juggling uncertainty. Sure, I was born a free-spirit, but I was also raised to question everything, explore the outlands and venture out past the limit signs. While I was growing up my parents seemed to be restless souls to me with a little bit of gypsy in their hearts, traveling all around the world together.   Now I gotta tell y'all within seconds of taking my first breath, mama and daddy welcomed their baby girl into what was a small, but inclusive adventurers club. After all, adventure was out there. And if it was calling our names, you can bet we were go...

Life Lesson #223~ Love of My Heart

Image
“Do you think the universe fights for souls to be together? Some things are too strange and strong to be coincidence.” ~ Unknown     Nearly twenty-three years ago I met the love of my life. Six months later I married him. To be honest I wasn’t exactly looking for love when love found me. But part of my plan or not, love still found a way. I was seriously in a place of  singledom . And I liked it. I had just graduated college. I was working towards my future as an independent woman. I was eager to spread my wings and fly. Relationships weren’t on my radar, in any way. In fact, the idea of having a serious courtship was completely non-existent. Just thinking about dating gave me a headache. I’d decided I was better off being single and taking care of myself. I had things to do, places to be and people to see anyway. At this stage of my life being the other half of a some made up fairytale,  wanna  be twosome wasn’t happening. I wanted no part of be...

Life Lesson #213 ~ True North

Image
“True love isn’t found, It’s built.” ~ Anonymous Love, it all starts with a spark, doesn’t it? And afterwards, is where the real adventure begins. Sure diamonds are forever but adventures, now they’re the moments diamonds are made for. Each impression left across our hearts, every escapade along the way becomes eternally endless and enduring, right? We build our lives on these very memories. And as for the legacies we leave behind? Well, they’re each stitched from the very fabric God’s woven together from our greatest adventures. We find our true North as we set out, hand in hand chasing what sets our souls on fire. And for my parents that fire was found in each other some 49 years ago. Just like Genesis 2:18 God created my parents uniquely for one another. “ And the Lord God said, “It isn’t good for man to be alone; I will make a companion for him, a helper suited to his needs.” Now, they will both tell you they didn’t find each other first. Both felt the sting of rejectio...

Life Lesson #168 ~ Love As Old As Time

Image
"It's not until you lose everything that you can truly appreciate everything." ~ Belle, Beauty and the Beast I am a loved woman. I am married to the love of my life. He is strong, handsome, a bit ornery at times but always kind. He's far from perfect, but then neither am I. He can have a temper, but be assured so do I. He is fair, gentle, sweet and yes sometimes a bit unrefined. He calls me his Beauty, and at other times, his Baby Beast. I call him my Beast, the love of my life and my hunny-bee.  We are quite the oddly mismatched pair to many, but that's what makes us work. I've always been what you'd call a bit peculiar, just like the song..."Look there she goes that girl is strange, no question. Dazed and distracted, can't you tell? Never part of any crowd. 'Cause her head's up on some cloud. No denying she's a funny girl that Belle" But Johnny knew this about me from the moment we first met and he loved me for it. I w...

Life Lesson #148 ~ Twenty Years From Now

Celebrating 21 Years as Mr. And Mrs. O "I wasn't looking when I met you. But you turned out to be everything I was looking for." ~ Unknown That's exactly how I feel about my hubby. I wasn't interested in a relationship, much less marriage when he came walking into my life wearing his boots, cowboy hat and wranglers. The night he pulled me out on to the dance floor, I was breathless. Johnny was everything I wanted and nothing I expected. He was a man's man, confident, and yet he was sweet and humble. That night some 23 years ago, my baby swept me off my feet and I have yet to land on them again. To think I was just 22 years old when I met Johnny. I was seriously a baby. When I think of today's standards, I was barely out of the cradle. To be honest I had no idea what I was doing whatsoever. All I knew was I loved the man standing in front of me and I wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of my life waking up beside him. I may have...
