Life Lesson #468 ~ The Rubble

Image
Life is strange. That’s for sure. It’s both beautiful and terrible at the same time. Some days make sense while others are completely mystifying. One day you’re on top of the world and the next you’re buried under 10 feet of rubble. No explanation. No clarification. And absolutely no resolution or solutions in sight. Just dust and debris. Who could have imagined this mess, right?  Or the destruction it brought.  But here you are. Covered in debris. Stuck and pinned down in a heap of ash. If you move one way or the other, bricks fall. If you stay still the whole building collapses. Bottom line is you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Either way loss is inevitable.   Life. It’s complicated.  And loss, well, it’s agonizing.   The problem is once you’re under the rubble, it’s hard to dig your way out. Doesn’t matter how you got there. You’re there. Everything you loved crumbled to the ground. Anger, rage, resentment, and hurt each one flo...

Life Lesson #136 ~ Insane Courage

Image
"Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage and I promise you something great will come of it." ~ We Bought A Zoo Many of you know my son Joshua's story. Or at least parts of it anyway. At 15, he suffered a traumatic brain injury in the locker room. In the weeks afterward he began to suffer from seizures, depression, debilitating headaches, processing issues among other affects of the injury.  His nose had to be corrected due to his septum being shoved upwards and his eye muscle repaired. In an instant life changed forever. Everything that came easy for everyone else was a struggle in the first few years for Joshua. Driving, working and school were slow steps, one at a time. At times he felt he would never get there but he did. Some mocked him, while others overlooked him and still many more doubted him BUT that didn't stop Joshua. He did graduate, he has gone on to college, he's working, he's driving, playing drums like no ones b...

Life Lesson #117 ~ Unbiological Sisters

"My cirlce is small but the love is enormous and genuine, it gets no better." ~ Alex Elle Life Lesson #117 ~ Un-biological Sisters. the glue that keeps our lives together. I often wonder how I would make it through life without the strong women in my life. I'm so blessed by this small group of tight- knit, close fierce women in my world who somehow keep  me together when everything seems to be falling apart. These friendships, these women are my closest confidants, true kindred spirits, and yes my un-biological sisters. I often think of Philippians 1:3-4 when I'm with my sisters, "Every time I think of you, I thank my God. And whenever I mention you in my prayers, it makes me happy."  So what are un- biological sisters and why do we need them? Well these are the women who know us better than we know ourselves. These women, mad at us or not we can call at 3 am in the morning and find the encouragement we need. These women are our champions. they do...
