Life Lesson #144 ~ Three Days

Image
"A lot can happen in three days."   ~ Anonymous I think of this saying a lot when I evaluate my life. I mean, from day to day a lot happens doesn't it? One day you're living happily, cancer free and the next, you're fighting for your life with a cancer diagnosis nipping at your heels. Life happens that fast and change comes in the blink of an eye. A key note from 'Fallen' explains it this way, "There are moments which mark your life. Moments when you realize nothing will ever be the same and time is divided into two parts ~ before this, and after this.  I don't know about you but I have many divided parts of my life. We all do. From wonderful moments such as saying I do, becoming a parent, graduating or getting the news you're cancer free to darker, more troublesome moments as we let go of toxic relationships, lose a job or sit down for our first of many chemo treatments. What I've learned through the years, is something Cur...

Life Lesson #121 ~ The Rear View Mirror

"Even though there are days I wish I could change some things that happened in the past, there's a reason the rear view mirror is so small and the windshield is so big, where you're headed is much more important than what you've left behind." ~ D.I. Quotes Three years ago this month my life changed. Actually my life went up in smoke. Uncontrollable flames reached epic heights and the smoke of what was left of my life up to that point billowed. I'm not talking some small campfire either, not even a bonfire. No, I'm talking about a raging, out of control wildfire, burning and destroying everything in it's path. This sweeping fire consumed everything, all of me, who I was and who I thought I should be. Three years later, the fire has been extinguished. Truth, for a time there I was fighting hot spots spontaneously re-igniting, area's of my life left unattended. I was lost, hurt, betrayed and abandoned. Night had fallen, the sky was black, I...

Life Lesson #103~ Making Peace with Yourself

"The greatest challenge in life is discovering who you are. The second greatest is being happy with what you find." ` Anonymous I was raised by an amazing, humble, selfless woman. A woman of grace, beauty and strength. My Mom, she's a giving woman, forgiving and generous. A modern day Ruth to be honest. What is a mondern a day Ruth you ask, well it's best said like this, "A "Ruth" is a woman who has experienced great loss and pain - yet has remained loyal and faithful no matter what. She has found her strength in God." ( A Modern Day Ruth)  That's my mom, living through loss, pain  and still finding strength and joy in her faith. My Mom has always had a tender heart, and in that she's felt things deeper, with more emotion than many of us do. When she's hurt, her heart doesn't just break, it shatters. Growing up the only child of a woman who's heart had been broken long before I was born, it was painful through the y...
